- Travellers vote for alliance’s first-ever branded lounge, offering high quality, service excellence and contemporary design
oneworld’s first-ever branded airport lounge at Seoul Incheon Airport has landed the coveted title of “Asia’s Leading Airline Lounge – Business Class” in the World Travel Awards. The award was announced at an event in Hong Kong on October 13.
The accolade comes as the alliance continues its thoughtful growth and innovative approach to alliance strategy, which includes plans to expand the number of oneworld-branded lounges worldwide.
“We are delighted that our inaugural airport lounge in Seoul has been recognised with this prestigious award in only its second year of operation. This is testament to the team on the ground and our shared commitment to delivering an exceptional airport experience for our member airlines’ top customers,” said Nat Pieper, oneworld chief executive officer.
oneworld’s Seoul lounge has welcomed almost 200,000 guests since it opened in January 2024. The operations of the 555 square metre space are managed on behalf of the alliance by Swissport, the global aviation ground services provider, which also manages oneworld’s lounge at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and Aspire Executive Lounges globally.
“This prestigious award win is evidence of the operational excellence and customer service which is being delivered by our teams at Seoul Incheon Airport”, said David Collyer, Global Senior Vice President, Aspire Executive Lounges. “We are proud to support oneworld in bringing this remarkable lounge to the market, and we’re delighted that the high-quality guest experience it offers has been recognised”.
Incheon International Airport is served by seven oneworld member airlines: Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Malaysia Airlines, Qatar Airways and SriLankan Airlines. Between them, these oneworld member airlines operate more than 60 weekly flights to Seoul, connecting the Korean capital with nearly 1,000 destinations world-wide through the oneworld member network.
Established in 1993, The World Travel Awards recognise excellence across the global travel and hospitality industry, with nominees and winners selected through a process that includes voting by travellers themselves.
