- Applications for the new edition of the TAP Air Portugal film festival are now open.
The film festival on board TAP Air Portugal will have a new edition, and applications are now open. Until 30 April, short films can be submitted to the third edition of the Altitude Film Fest, which, in 2026, will have a new category dedicated to film students.
The Altitude Film Fest continues its mission to promote the best of Portugal and Portuguese culture through the seventh art and artists from all corners of the world. In its first two editions, the festival received more than 400 entries from 45 different countries, which more than 60.000 passengers on board viewed.
The short films in the Fiction and Documentary categories will once again be screened on board TAP aircraft throughout September and October, and passengers will vote on the films shown. Part of each film must be shot in Portuguese territory and/or focus on Portuguese culture. Each entry costs ten euros.
The winners will be announced on World Cinema Day at the awards ceremony on 5 November, in Lisbon. Altitude Film Fest will once again select ten fiction films and ten documentaries, and from these, five finalists from each category will be voted on by passengers on the airline’s flights. To determine the final winner in each category, 60% of the vote will come from passengers and 40% from a jury of national figures linked to cinema.
The winners of the special category Portugal that Inspires the World, which aims to encourage young talent to share artistic school projects, will be chosen at the ceremony on 5 November.
The Fiction and Documentary categories have a first prize of €1,500 in travel on the TAP network, and the student competition will have a single prize of €1,000 in travel on the TAP network.
