The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) is pleased to welcome as a new member airline TAG Airlines, a company with 50 years of work providing commercial and private aviation services.

TAG Airlines operates 12 domestic and international routes in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Belize and shortly southern Mexico with a fleet of 15 Turbo Prop aircraft and one Jet ERJ 145.

“I celebrate the arrival of TAG Airlines to ALTA. Its operation in Central America, sustained growth and committed team are worthy of recognition. I am convinced that its participation in ALTA’s initiatives will be of great value to continue recovering connectivity in our region and bringing the benefits of aviation to more places and more people”, said José Ricardo Botelho, ALTA’s Executive Director & CEO.

“Being an ALTA member is a source of pride and satisfaction for TAG Airlines as ALTA plays a significant role in the commercial aviation sector in Latin America. For TAG and for the industry, this 2021 is a year of recovery, we are working very hard to provide better and greater connectivity, we have many projects including the expansion of our route network in Central America, incorporating new aircraft that will allow us to offer a better product to the market”, expressed Julio Gamero, CEO of TAG Airlines.

TAG seeks to further expand with its recently obtained ISSA safety certification after having participated in the program jointly promoted by ALTA and IATA and by beginning its IOSA certification process.

“The ISSA Program is a powerful tool to further strengthen civil aviation safety standards in Latin America and Caribbean. Through this initiative we have convened over a dozen airlines in the region and, today, out of the 10 airlines that are ISSA certified, nine are based in our region and six are ALTA member. It makes us very proud and strengthens our daily commitment to advance steadily towards the great mission of providing the safest mean of transport,” Botelho added.
