Aerolineas Argentinas confirmed the departure of another flight to the People’s Republic of China in search of more doses of the Sinopharm vaccine.

Flight AR1078 took off from Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires and is scheduled to make an intermediate stopover in Madrid both on the outward and on the return journey. The return to the Argentine capital is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. on Thursday, July 15.

The flight is the fifth of the 10 confirmed during the month of July to bring 8 million doses of the vaccine produced by China National Pharmaceutical Group Corp.

Yesterday afternoon, flight AR1074 also arrived from Beijing. It is the third in this series, with 768,000 vaccines.

“Surely this will be a record month in terms of the arrival of vaccines and that is always good news because it allows us to think about a quick way out of this health crisis,” said Luis Pablo Ceriani, President of Aerolineas Argentinas.

Aerolineas Argentinas reported that it has previously completed a total of 22 flights to Moscow in which 11,813,375 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine (produced by the Russian Gamaleya Institute) were transported. In addition, from Beijing, a total of 7,499,200 arrived in the country on 10 flights. In 32 complete flight operations, a total of 19,312,575 doses were brought, reported the same source.

According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, as of today Wednesday 14 July 2021 at 10:01 GMT  99,640 deaths have been reported in Argentina from Coronavirus. That represents the highest number of fatalities per one million inhabitants in the world. The total number of reported cases in Argentina stands at 4,682,960, according to the same source.
