The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA), the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC) and the Superior Academy of Aeronautical Sciences (ASCA) signed today a memorandum of understanding (MoU) whereby the organizations commit to jointly work on initiatives that support the development of aviation in the Latin America and Caribbean region.

Under this agreement, the organizations will promote the development and distribution of educational programs and courses, as well as the research and publication of statistical information and trends on safety that stimulate the sustainable development of air transport.

“We are honored to welcome the Superior Academy of Aeronautical Sciences, an institution with a path specialized in aeronautical training programs among our partners; and continue strengthening ties with the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute in order to developing initiatives to benefit civil aviation and its users,” said José Ricardo Botelho, ALTA’s Executive Director & CEO, who highlighted that ASCA offers over 100 academic training programs.

Roman E. Caamaño, Director of IDAC, highlighted that the new agreement will enable that ALTA, IDAC, and ASCA join efforts for the common purpose of developing training programs for the professionalization of the region’s human talent. He thanked ALTA for its compromise in promoting educative programs that ASCA offers through their institutional media.

“For IDAC-ASCA, this relationship is highly beneficial as it will facilitate spaces to carry investigation projects on operational safety trends, expert interchange to participate in events, and other actions that contribute to the sustainable development of air transport in the region”, expressed Caamaño.

Director of ASCA, Clara Fernandez, assessed the importance of the agreement, as “it will contribute to strengthen and to make more efficient the main mission of ASCA, which is training qualified human resources for serving the aeronautical sector and reach excellency levels that IDAC has compromised to reach in all areas of its authority”.

“The Dominican Republic is today one of the leading referents of tourism recovery, and consequently boosting the resumption of civil aviation industry in the region. Through this cooperation agreement, ALTA will contribute to the country continue being a referent not only as a tourism destination, but also as a center for education, professionalization, and training in aeronautical matters,” Botelho added.

As stipulated in this agreement, which seeks to contribute to the massification of aeronautical education and, therefore, to developing the industry in the Latin America and Caribbean region, ASCA will provide ALTA members with special discounts on its continuing education programs and courses.
