Envoy Pilots Reelect Union Leaders

Source: ALPA On Wednesday, August 23, the Envoy Master Executive Council (MEC) of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) held an election for officers to lead the more than 2,000 Envoy pilots. The voting members of the Envoy MEC reelected by acclamation F/O Chase Freeman, chair; Capt. Michele Franciosa, vice chair; and Capt. Jonathan Miranda, secretary-treasurer, to serve the two-year term that begins September 8, 2023. F/O Chase Freeman Freeman was reelected as chair. Based in Chicago, he has been with Envoy since 2020. FAA Hits 1,500-Controller Hiring Goal for 2023

Source: US FAA The Federal Aviation Administration has hired 1,500 air traffic controllers and met its 2023 goal needed to continue rebuilding its training pipeline. The agency also announced that it now has approximately 2,600 controllers being trained at facilities across the country. Many of these controllers are already certified to safely work some air traffic positions as they continue training on others. “This is an important milestone as we come out of the pandemic, but there is more work to do. Boom Supersonic Advances Flight Preparations for XB-1

Runway Safety Meetings Scheduled at Approximately 90 Airports

Source: US FAA The Federal Aviation Administration will hold runway safety meetings at approximately 90 airports between now and the end of September. “Sharing information is critical to improving safety,”said Tim Arel, chief operating officer of the FAA’s Air Traffic Organization. “These meetings, along with other efforts, will help us achieve our goal of zero close calls.” During a Runway Safety Action Team meeting, airport stakeholders come together to identify unique risks to surface safety at that airport and develop plans to mitigate or eliminate those risks. Caribbean Airlines granted an injunction by the Industrial Court of Trinidad and Tobago

Source: Caribbean Airlines Caribbean Airlines applied for and was granted an injunction by the Industrial Court of Trinidad and Tobago earlier this week which restricts the Trinidad and Tobago Airline Pilots Association (TTALPA) and its membership from taking industrial action within the meaning of the Industrial Relations Act of Trinidad and Tobago Chapter 88:01 including calling in sick en masse. American Airlines customers donate more than $1 million to American Red Cross in support of Maui wildfires

Source: American Airlines American Airlines continues to support evacuation and relief efforts following the devastating wildfires on Maui, Hawaii, earlier this month. In addition to providing lift off the island and flexibility to customers, American is supporting relief efforts by offering American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles to customers who donate to the American Red Cross.
