GOAA Board Presented with Preliminary Budget, Proposed Fee Adjustments

Source: Orlando International Airport Financial issues were the focal point of the latest Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) board meeting. The Board was presented with preliminary 2024‐2025 Fiscal Year budgets of $941,278,000 for Orlando International Airport (MCO) and $10,692,381 for Orlando Executive Airport (ORL). In the Aviation Authority’s continuing effort to align the budget with the goals of the Strategic Plan, along with providing an exceptional travel experience for airport customers, the proposed budget for MCO includes a 10.3% increase in Operating and Maintenance (O&M) expenses over the prior year budget. National Flight Academy All-Girls Week Camp: Closing the gap to help girls keep climbing in aviation

Air Canada Pilots Vote Overwhelmingly to Authorize Strike

Source: ALPA Air Canada pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), voted overwhelmingly in favour to authorize union leaders to call a strike. With 98 percent of members participating, 98 percent of Air Canada pilots voted in favour of job action, if necessary, to achieve a new contractual agreement with Air Canada. Air Canada pilots are working under pay rates and quality-of-life provisions negotiated in 2014. Negotiations for a new agreement began in June 2023. FAA Proposed $341,413 in Civil Penalties Against Drone Operations

Source: FAA The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposed $341,413 in civil penalties against 27 people who violated federal drone regulations. The FAA issued the fines between October 2022 and June 2024. Drone operators who conduct unsafe or unauthorized operations face fines up to $75,000 per violation, an increase included in the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024. The FAA also can suspend or revoke drone operators’ pilot certificates. “Violating the drone regulations puts lives at risk in the air and on the ground,” said FAA Administrator Mike Whitaker. “Flying a small drone means you are flying an aircraft, and unsafe behavior will cost you.” The FAA encourages people to report unsafe and unauthorized drone operations to their local Flight Standards District Office. Porter Airlines will introduce Toronto Pearson – Thunder Bay route with Embraer E195-E2 in October

Paris 2024 Games: peak arrivals of Paralympic athletes on board Air France flights

On 21 August 2024 (peak arrivals), nearly 300 athletes travelled on Air France flights, notably from Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires and Santiago de Chile.
