ICAO issues new guidance on COVID-19 aviation safety risks

Source: ICAO ICAO has developed a new publication aimed at helping countries to address the aviation safety risks arising due to the global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.   Produced specifically for national aviation regulators and civil aviation authorities (CAAs), the new Handbook for CAAs on the Management of Aviation Safety Risks related to COVID-19 (ICAO Doc 10144) was developed with the support of aviation experts serving on the ICAO Safety Management Panel. GCAA condemns fake news circulating on social media

Source: GCAA The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has taken note of a publication on social media which suggests that a local air operator allegedly piloted an aircraft with passengers from Trinidad to Guyana without the relevant approval on Monday May 4, 2020. Belize International Airport Continues to Remain Closed

Resolution 144/2020 puts Argentina’s travel and tourism sector at risk

CARIBBEAN AIRLINES CARGO LAUNCHES CHARTER SERVICE

ALTA TRAFFIC REPORT, FEBRUARY 2020

Panama, April 14, 2020 – The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) announces that Latin America and Caribbean airlines carried 24.2 million passengers in February, up 4.5% – or 1,049,391 additional passengers – from the previous year. Traffic (RPK) increased 2.6% and capacity (ASK) increased 4.7%, bringing the load factor to 79%, 1.6 percentage points lower than in 2019. (see table 1). Traffic to/from Latin America & Caribbean Latin America and Caribbean airlines carried 2.18 million passengers to and from Latin America and the Caribbean in February, down 1% from the previous year (see table 2).
