LATAM reduces the time for external inspection of aircraft from 8 hours to 40 minutes thanks to the use of drones

Source: LATAM LATAM group began tests to incorporate the use of drones in the exterior inspection of aircraft fuselages, reducing the time of such process from 8 hours to only 40 minutes according to preliminary results. This technology will allow LATAM to achieve a more efficient and secure process. The tests consist of the drone automatically flying around the aircraft and taking up to 2,000 detailed photos of the entire fuselage, using artificial intelligence to identify potential damage and possible repairs required.
