TSA eGates public-private partnership enhances traveler experience

Source: TSA New electronic gates (eGates) are debuting at TSA security checkpoints to help expedite identity verification in select airports, thanks to a new TSA public-private partnership. The eGates allow TSA to automatically compare traveler biometrics with their identity document and boarding pass without the need for a human operator, enhancing efficiency and security. UN Tourism/ICAO Ministerial Summit calls for enhanced cooperation to unlock Africa’s growth

May 2025 U.S. Airline Traffic Data Down 2.1% from the Same Month Last Year

Source: US DOT U.S. airlines carried 85.2 million systemwide (domestic and international) scheduled service passengers in May 2025, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS). When adjusted for seasonality, May enplanements are up 0.5% from April and down 3.5% from the all-time high reached in June 2024. BTS reported 74.2 million domestic passengers and 11 million international passengers on U.S. airlines flights in May, not adjusting for seasonality. US DOT Modernizes Aviation Consumer Complaint System

Source: US DOT New system is user-friendly, streamlines complaint submission process The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) recently launched a new, modernized web-based system for submitting and handling air travel service complaints as part of the Aviation Complaint, Enforcement, and Reporting System (ACERS). USDOT previously relied on an outdated consumer complaint application system developed in the 1990s to do this work. “I’m committed to making USDOT work better for the American people. Latest ICAO aviation safety data reveals need for renewed focus, despite continuous long-term improvements

The data in ICAO's 2025 Edition Safety Report  - State of Global Aviation Safety shows 95 accidents involving scheduled commercial flights last year, compared to 66 accidents in 2023. Air traffic in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) grew 3.4% in June

Source: ALTA In June 2025, air traffic in Latin America and the Caribbean reached 38.3 million passengers, marking a 3.4% year-over-year increase, equivalent to 1.3 million additional travelers. This represents an acceleration of 0.8 percentage points compared to the growth recorded in May. The region’s overall performance was largely driven by LAC-based airlines, which, according to IATA’s latest report, posted the highest traffic growth globally in June (+7.9%)[1].
