U.S. Air Travel Consumer Report: August 2024 Numbers

Source: US DOT The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) today released its Air Travel Consumer Report (ATCR) on airline operational data compiled for the month of August 2024 for on-time performance, mishandled baggage, and mishandled wheelchairs and scooters. The ATCR is designed to assist consumers with information on the quality of services provided by airlines. For August 2024, 2.0% of flights were cancelled, higher than the year-to-date cancellation rate of 1.7% in 2024. International air travel liability limits set to increase, enhancing customer compensation

Source: ICAO Travelers will soon benefit from higher compensation limits for international flights, with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) announcing today that the Montreal Convention liability limits for death, injury, delays, baggage and cargo issues, will increase on 28 December 2024. ICAO has informed the 140 States Parties that the limits would increase in line with the Convention's built-in review mechanism, to adjust for inflation every five years.
