European Plan for Aviation Safety 2022-2026 published

Source: EASA The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) published the 11th edition of the European Plan for Aviation Safety (EPAS). EPAS sets out the strategic priorities and main risks affecting the European aviation system, and defines the necessary actions to mitigate them, with the primary objective of further improving aviation safety. EPAS is the regional aviation safety plan (RASP) for EASA Member States. It supports safety management at State level and constitutes the main input to the EUR RASP for the ICAO EUR Region. IATA Appoints Frederic Leger as SVP for Commercial Products and Services

Source: IATA The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has appointed Frederic Leger as the association’s Senior Vice President for Commercial Products and Services. Leger served in the role on an ad interim basis since July 2021, when IATA’s Commercial Products and Services Division was created as part of an internal restructuring. He reports to Willie Walsh, IATA’s Director General. Leger holds the concurrent position of President of IATA’s Cargo Network Services in the US, a responsibility he has held since May 2021. FAA Awards $5 Million in Grants to Train the Next Generation of Aviation Maintenance Technicians

ALPA Pilots Vow to Keep Aviation Safe with New FAA 5G Guidance

U.S. Scheduled Passenger Airlines Add Employees in November 2021

Source: US DOT The 24 U.S. scheduled passenger airlines employed 414,597 full-time equivalents (FTEs) in November 2021, 1,151 FTEs (0.3%) more than in October 2021. This is the seventh consecutive month-over-month increase in passenger airline FTEs, dating back to May 2021. November’s total number of FTEs remains down 37,472 FTEs (8.3%) from pre-pandemic November 2019’s 452,429 FTEs. The employment increase from October was led by Delta Air Lines, which added 1,149 FTEs and Southwest Airlines, which added 536 FTEs. Those increases were moderated by United Airlines, which decreased employment by 1,087 FTEs. Low-cost carriers showed the greatest percent increase (1.0%) from October 2021 among passenger airline categories.
