Source: FAA The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes $225,287 in civil penalties against 10 airline passengers for alleged unruly behavior involving physical assault. Since Jan. 1, 2021, the FAA has received more than 100 reports of passenger disturbances involving physical assault. Federal law prohibits passengers from assaulting fellow passengers or crew aboard a flight. The rate of unruly passenger incidents on commercial flights has dropped sharply since the FAA launched its Zero Tolerance campaign but the rate remains too high. According to the Report, the COVID-19 outbreak reduced the number of passengers at the world's airports by more than 5.6 billion in 2020 and is forecast to remove an additional 4.6 billion passengers by the end of 2021, compared to 2019 volumes.
