Air traffic in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) grew 4.3% year-on-year in August

Source: ALTA In August 2025, total passenger traffic to, from, and within Latin America and the Caribbean reached 40.7 million passengers, an increase of 4.3% compared to August 2024 (equivalent to an additional 1.7 million passengers). Intra-regional traffic accounted for 81% of the net increase, driven mainly by the domestic markets of Brazil, Argentina, and Peru, which contributed more than half of the growth. Flight supply grew by 1.2% year-on-year, while total capacity (seats) increased by 2.5%, reflecting the use of larger aircraft, with an average of 160 seats per flight compared to 158 in August 2024[1] . IATA Launches the Integrated Sustainability Program

ISP is a certification program offering airlines a comprehensive sustainability management and assessment framework. It is designed specifically for airlines and built upon the successful IATA Environmental Assessment (IEnvA). Along with certification, the program includes training, consulting, assessments, guidance, and tools in four critical modules: environmental management, sustainable procurement, social responsibility & sustainability performance. ISP certifications and modules can be pursued individually or as a fully integrated sustainability program. Family Assistance Guidance Added to IATA Emergency Response Manual

Source: IATA   The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has launched a revised Emergency Response Best Practices Handbook which, for the first time, includes detailed guidance on family assistance. Family assistance has long been an IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) requirement. Since 2022, the requirements for family assistance are included as a standard in the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO’s) Annex 9 (Facilitation) while ICAO’s Document 9973 provides clear responsibilities for airlines, airports and ground handlers, turning international standards into care for affected families.
