Following on from the great success of the ZIMmagic (PC-01) Premium Economy seat, Lufthansa Group has selected the new generation of this seat type, the so-called ZIMprivacy (PC-02), from ZIM Aircraft Seating. The new seat will now also be installed on 19 of Lufthansa’s Boing B747-8 flagship aircrafts and additional 9 SWISS Airbus A330.

“The award of this project to ZIM Aircraft Seating is a very good sign for the future direction of commercial aviation in the long-lasting Covid-19 crisis and indicates a recovery in flight activities. The entire ZIM Aircraft Seating team is very proud that we have hit the right nerve in the market with our new product development of the ZIMprivacy, and that with Lufthansa and SWISS we were able to convince two strong partners as launch customers,” says Sven Achilles, CEO of ZIM Aircraft Seating. The Lufthansa and SWISS order adds to the existing order backlog of ZIM Aircraft Seating and enables a very positive outlook for the next few years.

The ZIMprivacy sets new standards for comfort and privacy in the Premium Economy class. The highly innovative seat features a variety of high values features enhancing the total passenger experience and comfort. Boasting a superb mechanical kinematic enclosed within a Fixed Backrest Shell structure, the seat also includes enhanced privacy with an integrated privacy shield creating improved personal space for all passengers. The ZIMprivacy also includes a variety of other amenities such as individually adjustable armrests, cocktail table, single piece meal table, personal reading light, ambient mood lighting and an extra-large IFE screen.

ZIM Aircraft Seating’s ZIMprivacy seats will be customised with specification and trim & finish variants for Lufthansa and SWISS to enable each airline to maintain their own cabin branding. The new ZIM PC-02 Premium Economy seat will be installed in SWISS (A340 and B777) in Q1/2022 and will also be installed for Lufthansa in the new B777-9, A350 and B787 in the future.  ZIM Aircraft Seating and Lufthansa Group worked closely with a common team approach very early on in the development phase of the new seats in order to successfully create a unique seat design and enabling an enhanced passenger experience.
