  • ACI-LAC Annual Assembly Conference & Exhibition 2022 takes place October 2-4 in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Buenos Aires, Argentina, will host the ACI-LAC Annual Assembly Conference & Exhibition 2022, the premier event for the region’s airport market. This year, the conference brings together Latin America’s leading aviation authorities, executives, and experts to celebrate the industry’s progress toward sustainable development and discuss solutions to the challenges ahead. The event will be held October 2-4 at the Hilton Buenos Aires Hotel. Also present at the opening of the event will be the director of Corporación América Argentina, Martín Eurnekian, the president of the Board of Directors of ACI-LAC and regional manager of Corporación América, Ezequiel Barrenechea, the general director of ACI World, Luis Felipe de Oliveira, and Rafael Echevarne, General Director of ACI-LAC.

The invited speakers will participate in several panels and presentations in which they will share experiences on airport business, reduction of environmental impacts, new technologies, air mobility, diversity, and inclusion, among other topics.

At the opening of the conference, a panel bringing together the Ministers of Tourism of Argentina, Matías Lammens, and Uruguay, Tabaré Vieira Duarte, will address the challenges and opportunities in the region for sustainable tourism as travel and tourism begin to overheat, following the most critical moments in the aviation industry. In another panel, digital influencers will give their perspective on how social media has changed the new way of communicating and how the industry can take advantage of this new communication channel.

Technology will also be in the spotlight in discussions on its uses to optimize airport operations and make the passenger journey seamless, just as digitization is bringing more efficiency to various airport processes.

As for sustainability initiatives implemented at airports, on the agenda will be the efforts made so far to achieve the industry’s goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and the integration of advanced air mobility vehicles powered by electricity and other renewable sources at airports. Issues related to diversity and inclusion policies and opportunities and the industry’s labor market will also be discussed during the day.

Other aspects of the airport business environment will be part of the agenda of panels based on topics such as airport economic regulation, general aviation challenges and opportunities, and the relationship between airports and retail companies operating in the airport environment.

“As we move beyond the worst phase of the Covid-19 pandemic, in addition to concerns about the earth’s overall environmental health, the review of airport economic regulation, technology and customer service are very relevant issues for airports,” said Dr. Rafael Echevarne, Director General of ACI-LAC.

“On the 3rd and 4th, in Buenos Aires, we will discuss each point in detail and celebrate the fact that the Latin American and Caribbean region is the one that has recovered the most after the pandemic without airports losing sight of their commitment to the environment,” he added.
