Airports Council International for Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC) congratulates AEROSTAR Holding on the accreditation of Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) at Level 1 – Mapping of ACI’s Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program.

“We are pleased to welcome a new airport in the Latin America and Caribbean region into the ACA program. Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) joins the group of 71 airports in Latin America and the Caribbean that have certified their environmental efforts,” said Dr. Rafael Echevarne, General Director of ACI-LAC.

Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) received Level 1 – Mapping accreditation for creating a complete carbon emissions inventory and developing a plan on how to reduce these emissions.

The Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program is the industry standard for certification of airport management of carbon emissions. With 4 levels of covering all stages of carbon management (measurement, reduction, optimization and neutrality), the program is independently administered and institutionally endorsed by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the United States Federal Aviation Administration and the European Commission (EC).
