  • Leading provider of passenger processing solutions enhances new Delta One check-in

Embross USA Inc., a global leader in passenger self-service technology, today announced it has deployed Embross’ VelocityOne (V1) kiosks and Self-Service Bag Drops at LAX. Embross will provide Delta Airlines with the latest in fully automated technologies including bag dimensioning and size detection, baggage weighing, intrusion detection, baggage imaging, bag tagging, multi-bag induction, automated RFID bag tag lookup and more. This is the first bag drop solution for all passengers, not just TSA PreCheck® as was initially deployed in Atlanta.

As part of an ongoing project, Embross has deployed 8 new automated self-bag drop units with new self-service bag drop application hosted in Embross cloud, as well as supporting self-service kiosks. The Delta One Check-In features the most progressive self-service kiosk capabilities including boarding pass and RFID bag tag printing, ancillary purchases such as additional and excess baggage, cabin upgrades, fast track security passes as well as lounge pass printing. Embross’ V2 kiosks are being used for access to Delta Sky Club’s airport lounge access.

The new equipment will bring the automation of check-in and baggage handling at LAX to the same level as at airports like Stockholm Arlanda and Copenhagen. In addition, the deployment also includes RFID technology for reading information on baggage tags. This technology has been proven by Delta to enable more efficient bag handling, as well as passenger peace of mind.

The Embross Self Bag Drop software is a next-generation application that speeds up and streamlines the bag drop and check-in process. It is available to both airlines and airports. Combining flexibility, aesthetics, and efficiency, the Embross Self Bag Drop application utilizes the latest web standards as well as the latest web application development stacks to ensure maximum capability and performance.

LAX serves as one of Delta’s most important coastal hubs and this summer will operate over 150 peak-day flights to 52 destinations across the globe, serving 19 of the top 20 markets for Los Angeles customers.
