  • From the Caribbean to Central America, this winter who else is wishing for warm sand, blue waters and cold piña coladas?

Winter break invites an opportunity to travel to some of the best beaches. Fortunately, Houston Airports is making direct connections to some of the hottest destinations in Aruba, Cuba, Jamaica, Costa Rica and Florida. Last minute travelers can board flights bound for sandy shores from both George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and William P. Hobby Airport (HOU).

If you’re open to travel during the first quarter of 2024 but aren’t necessarily wanting to slip on a bathing suit, our airline partners – like Singapore Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Emirates, Aeromexico and VivaAerobus – have you covered.

Tulum International Airport now open

Forget flying into Cancun in Quintana Roo, Mexico only to commute at least two hours, or more than 80 miles south to Tulum. A new airport, just south of the boho-chic beach hotspot is now open! Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport (TQO), also known as Tulum International Airport officially opened December 1, 2023.

The airport, which is ready to welcome more than 5 million passengers each year, is about 20 miles south of Tulum, a popular beachside escape known for its Mayan ruins.

Right now, TQO is only receiving domestic flights from carriers Aeromexico and Viva Aerobus. International flights – including daily flights by United Airlines to and from George Bush Intercontinental Airport – are expected to begin March 31.
