Source: YEG Edmonton International Airport supports land restoration in Alberta  On United Nations International Day of Forests, Edmonton International Airport (YEG) has celebrated its leadership in eco-responsibility, committed to protecting lands and biodiversity in the region. With environmental stewardship at the forefront of airport operations, YEG partnered with Edmonton-based Wild + Pine in 2021 as part of its Airport City Sustainability Campus. In 2023, the airport invested in the StoneWoods Forest Carbon Project to plant 50,000 tree seedlings, restoring 61 acres of land, about the size of one of YEG's runways and the terminal building.  Wild + Pine planted the seedlings as part of this pioneering afforestation carbon removal project in Central Alberta. Source: GTAA The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) has entered into Airline Partnership Agreements with several airlines for a new rebate program aimed at driving better performance and passenger experience at Canada’s busiest airport. Airlines representing approximately 90% of seats at Toronto Pearson are eligible to earn rebates by achieving certain passenger volume thresholds and meeting targets related to operational performance, including on-time departures and timely baggage delivery. These agreements are expected to help the GTAA achieve financial sustainability in two ways: incentivizing passenger growth and reducing the expected rebates the GTAA pays to carriers compared to previous long-term agreements that ended on December 31, 2023.
