Boosting States’ aerodrome certification capacity

Aircraft maintenance facility expansion at MIA approved

Source: MIA New 114,000-square-foot facility to generate 250 jobs AAR, a leading provider of aviation services to commercial and government operators, maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) customers, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), has received approval from the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners to proceed with the construction of a 114,000-square-foot facility adjacent to the company’s existing hangar at Miami International Airport (MIA). AAR plans to break ground on the new facility in early 2024 and complete construction within 24 months. TSA detected 49 firearms at Chicago airports in first six months of 2023

Source: TSA Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers stopped 49 handguns at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) security checkpoints from Jan. 1 through June 30, 2023. In the same period in 2022, 60 firearms were stopped. Nationwide, TSA officers intercepted 3,251 firearms at airport security checkpoints during the first half of 2023. The total represents an average 18 firearms per day at TSA checkpoints of which more than 92% were loaded.
