Arajet to support CONNECT New World as the event’s Official Carrier

Source: CONNECT New World The Airport Agency is delighted to announce that Arajet will be the official carrier of CONNECT New World, the new regional event dedicated to the Americas and the Caribbean. Arajet is the first ULCC in the Caribbean and is based in Aeropuerto Internacional Las Américas (SQD), located in the capital of the Dominican Republic Santo Domingo. Nine states earn special ICAO Council President recognition of their aviation safety and security oversight achievements

Source: ICAO During the opening ceremony of the ICAO 41st Assembly this week, ICAO Council President Salvatore Sciacchitano recognized nine States’ significant progress in improving safety and security oversight systems by awarding them with Council President Certificates. These Certificates are awarded on the basis of the outcomes of ICAO’s Universal Safety and Security Oversight Audit Programmes, which pertain to the effective implementation of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) in these areas. At this year’s ceremony, ICAO presented Ethiopia, Fiji, Hungary, Slovenia, and Ukraine with certificates for their safety progress, while Serbia, and Tunisia were recognized for their achievements in regard to aviation security. FAA Begins Environmental Review for West Virginia International Yeager Airport Projects

Source: FAA Agency will hold three public meetings in early November The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is preparing a draft environmental review of airfield, safety and terminal improvements at the West Virginia International Yeager Airport (CRW). The agency will hold several public meetings on the draft Environmental Impact Statement for the projects, which are proposed by the Central West Virginia Regional Airport Authority (CWVRAA). The proposed projects include the shift and extension of Runway 5-23 and the parallel taxiway to improve the runway safety area to meet FAA design standards, and improvements to the terminal facilities. Pacific States launch new Regional Aviation Strategy at ICAO Assembly

IATA and ITC join forces for cross-border trade

Source: IATA The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the International Trade Centre (ITC) joined forces to improve access to global trade and air cargo supply chain information for businesses and air cargo professionals. Through this agreement, ITC and IATA will cross-link their information offerings, including data, to expand access to strategic information for trade and cargo professionals. Users of multiagency platform Global Trade Helpdesk can now also benefit from the IATA ONE source platform with information on freight forwarders.
