IATA Welcomes Further Easing of Border Restrictions by Canadian Government

Source: IATA The International Air Transport Association (IATA) welcomes today’s decision by the government of Canada to further ease border restrictions for fully vaccinated* passengers. Eligible US citizens and permanent US residents arriving from the US will be permitted to enter Canada as of 9 August and foreign nationals arriving from all other countries will be allowed as of 7 September. FAA Opens Houston Space Safety Office to Increase Oversight of Texas and New Mexico Operations

Source: US FAA The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) opened a safety field office in Houston to increase its oversight of commercial space operations in Texas and New Mexico. First Quarter 2021 Air Fare Drops As Passenger Numbers Increase

Source: US DOT The average U.S. domestic air fare declined in the first quarter of 2021 to $260, down 1.2% from the inflation-adjusted fare of $264 in the fourth quarter of 2020. The first quarter fare of $260 was up 5.0% from the lowest inflation adjusted fare of $248 in the third quarter of 2020.   Adjusted for inflation (constant 2021 dollars) the average 1Q 2021 air fare was: Down 24.0% from 1Q 2020 ($343) Down 1.2% from 4Q 2020 ($264) Down 34.7% from 1Q 2016 ($398)   Air fares declined as passenger demand decreased. Latin American Civil Aviation Commission Secretary praises recently unveiled “European Green Deal”

Source: LACAC The Secretary of the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission, Jaime Binder, delivered some opening remarks at the workshop titled: “Capacity building for CO2 mitigation from international aviation Africa and Caribbean (CORSIA Africa and Caribbean)”. On the occasion he stated that Europe shows a way forward with the “European Green Deal”, which seeks to transform the EU into a sustainable economy. In this context, it was added that the assistance with the implementation of CORSIA in the Caribbean region is an example of the commitment to the environment at a global level.

Brasilia International Airport is the first airport in the country to support the British Royal Family’s action against international wildlife trafficking

Source: ACI-LAC Brasilia International Airport, operated by Inframerica, a member of the Airports Council International for Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC), has signed the Buckingham Palace Declaration against illegal wildlife trafficking. The United for Wildlife campaign is part of the task force created in 2014 by Prince William with the aim of involving the transportation sector in the fight against wildlife trafficking. The task force brought together airports, shipping companies, airlines and government agencies to identify and facilitate private sector-led actions. Brasilia International Airport, is the first airport in Brazil and the second in Latin America to sign the Buckingham Palace Declaration.
