Runway Safety Meetings Scheduled at Approximately 90 Airports

Source: US FAA The Federal Aviation Administration will hold runway safety meetings at approximately 90 airports between now and the end of September. “Sharing information is critical to improving safety,”said Tim Arel, chief operating officer of the FAA’s Air Traffic Organization. “These meetings, along with other efforts, will help us achieve our goal of zero close calls.” During a Runway Safety Action Team meeting, airport stakeholders come together to identify unique risks to surface safety at that airport and develop plans to mitigate or eliminate those risks. ACI-LAC presents the top 10 airports in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2022

Source: ACI-LAC Airports Council International for Latin America and the Caribbean ranks the 10 airports in Latin America and the Caribbean with the most passenger traffic, air cargo, and aircraft movements in 2022. At the top of the ranking is Mexico City International Airport "Lic Benito Juarez" (Mexico City), followed by El Dorado International Airport (Bogota). The Mexican terminal ranked first in total passengers and air movements, followed by the Colombian terminal. Regarding cargo traffic, the situation is reversed, with El Dorado Airport in 1st place and Mexico City Airport in 2nd place. ADM offers a space for the Commemoration of the Expropriated Owners of Mirabel Airport in Canada’s second largest city

Source: ADM (Aéroports de Montréal) ADM Aéroports de Montréal will dedicate a 42,200-m2 space, located along Guy-Lafleur Highway, at the entrance to the YMX International Aerocity of Mirabel, for the creation of a memorial site in honor of the « exproprié(e)s de Mirabel » (Expropriated Owners of Mirabel). The plot of land will be dedicated to the Centre de mémoire collective de l’expropriation de Mirabel(CMCEM), whose fundamental mission is to commemorate the battle of the expropriated owners in 1969.

YVR voluntarily suspends construction activities on South Airfield

Source: YVR Vancouver International Airport (YVR) has voluntarily suspended construction activities on the southern half of Sea Island, encompassing its South Airfield, following the discovery of what are believed to be Musqueam artifacts on the site. At the time of finding, YVR suspended further work and notified Musqueam Indian Band. The artifacts have been sent to a certified archaeology and heritage lab for technical assessments. “YVR is located on Sea Island, which is the traditional, unceded, and continuously occupied territory of Musqueam. GTAA Reports 2023 Second Quarter Results

Source: GTAA The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (“GTAA”) reported its financial and operating results for the three- and six-months ended June 30, 2023.  Passenger activity significantly increased by 2.0 million or 22.1 per cent to 11.3 million and 6.6 million or 46.1 per cent to 21.2 million during the second quarter and first half of 2023, when compared to the same periods of 2022.  Passenger activity increased due to the high travel demand, which continues to remain strong, and the removal of pandemic-related government travel restrictions that existed during the first half of 2022.
