US Air Travel Consumer Report: December 2022, Full Year 2022 Numbers

Source: US Department of Transportation The U.S. Department of Transportation today released its Air Travel Consumer Report (ATCR) on airline operational data compiled for the month of December 2022 and calendar year 2022 for on-time performance, mishandled baggage, and mishandled wheelchairs and scooters.  The ATCR is designed to assist consumers with information on the quality of services provided by airlines. DOT remains committed to ensuring airline passengers are treated fairly and is concerned about recent flight cancellations and flight disruptions and difficulties families are experiencing in sitting together with no fees. Schools Nationwide Receive $10 Million in FAA Grants to Develop the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals

Source: FAA Twenty-three schools will receive $10 million in grants from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to help attract and train students for careers as pilots and aviation maintenance technicians. Twelve of the schools will receive $5 million from the FAA’s Aircraft Pilots Aviation Workforce Development Grants program. The schools can use the funding to create and deliver curriculums designed to prepare students to become pilots, aerospace engineers or drone operators. CANSO and Infina sign a partnership offering virtual training to the aviation community

Source: CANSO Through a partnership signed recently, CANSO and Infina agreed to be delivering cost-effective technical and management micro-learning and mixed media courses, virtually to the global aviation community. Infina adapted its courses to ICAO requirements and industry instructional design standards, tested with audiences in the U.S.A and its territories, and modified the content to benefit CANSO member countries and stakeholders globally. FSF Global Safety Report Highlights Runway Safety, Turbulence Risks

Source: FSF Turbulence, runway excursions and ground damage were the most common accident types among airliners operating globally in passenger and cargo service in 2022, according to Flight Safety Foundation’s 2022 Safety Report. The report, released today, is based on an analysis of preliminary accident data and information contained in the Foundation’s Aviation Safety Network (ASN) global database. ICAO issues call for Advanced Air Mobility infrastructure and global harmonization solutions

Source: ICAO ICAO has issued a new request for information (RFI) to public and private-sector innovators in support of its upcoming 2023 DRONE ENABLE Symposium. Minister of Transport announces additional funding for the Canadian Transportation Agency to help clear the backlog of air passenger complaints
